Made in 1919, THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE is one of the best-known products of the early Australian silent film industry. A beloved classic, THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE is based on the poems by C.J Dennis which chronicles the life of a Sydney larrikin who vows to give up his life of gambling and drinking when he falls in love with Doreen - a beautiful woman who works in the local pickle factory. With intertitles written in the unique Australian slang of the era, THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE is a classic example of Australia's early cinema movement and, with its stunning new digital transfer and swag of special features, this DVD release only emphasises THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE's status as the jewel in the crown of Australia's early national cinema.

This is the simple story of 'the bloke' who gives up a life of drinking and two-up games for the love of Doreen.
