Disc 1. Racing Green - British

We revisit many lovingly restored examples of great British racing cars from the 1950s & 60s in action again at the historic racing car festival at Silverstone. Present day action footage of the great cars and drivers combines with rare archive of the 50s and 60s as each car is expertly profiled.

Since racing began, the Italians have been passionately involved with racing motor cars in their adopted national colour of brilliant red. Famous marques such as Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia and Ferrari, all illustrate the beauty and appeal of these exotic machines as driven by Nuvolari, Fangio, Ascari, Hawthorn and Collins, Lauda, Scheckter and Stirling Moss. Now you can relive the excitement and mystique of these glorious machines and drivers from the era before the cars were covered in commercial sponsorship. Rare archive complements modern day footage with modern on-board cameras which let you experience the thrill of driving a Ferrari or Maserati to the limit.
Disc 3. Racing Silver - German
German engineering has come to the forefront of motorsport time and again, especially under the distinctive mantle of Racing Silver. Now you can join motoring authority Neville Hay for a fascinating journey through the archives of Mercedes, Benz and Auto Union from 1900 to the late Sixties, plus a look at Porsche and BMW, as he sheds light on the innovative design, construction and magnificent drivers which brought these manufacturers extraordinary success in Grand Prix and sports car racing during those exciting years. Watch in awe and admiration as these spectacular silver machines wing their way to victory with legendary reliability.
