Synopsis
Acclaimed filmmaker Raoul Walsh (High Sierra) delivers a first class ode to the great Western landscape and pits Oscar winning screen legend Clark Gable (Gone With The Wind) against ruthless outlaws, agitated natives and the unpredictable elements of nature. In post Civil War America two nefarious brothers, Ben (Gable) and Clint (Cameron Mitchell, Carousel), join a perilous cattle drive from Texas to Montana and rescue young Nella (Jane Russell, The Outlaw) from a pack of unforgiving Indians. Competing for her affections the brothers are ill prepared for the challenges that lay ahead when Texas cattle baron Nathan Stark (Robert Ryan, Bad Day At Black Rock) steps into stake his claim.
